I think it went well enough - It was our first attempt at holding an event like this, so it was to be expected that only a small amount of people entered/turned up. You did a great job organising the whole event Rose - so be proud of yourself! Cosplay dinner was fun too!

Yep, considering it was a first time event it went rather well! The turn out was actually better than i thought it was going to be leading up to the event, since interest from outside party's seemed to drop, but it worked out to a reasonable amount of people! Since it was a little late notice for a lot of people for confirmed details I'm sure numbers will improve next year if we release details and entry forms earlier, plus do a little heaver promoting around teh webz.
all in all, great job!

Agreed! Ballarat is a small place! We should promote it more vigorously, but otherwise it went well and I had a blast! The campus is also a very nice venue for photography.

well i think it went great. i have a few suggestions for the future
1. more advertising, including around the whole of ballarat area using posters ect and the internet.
2. we should hold the event during summer. ballarat weather is usually very wet and cold. we need to hold it during a time when it is going to be more likely to be sunny.

Advertising any more around ballarat is pointless if there were many other cosplayers we would know. The best thing would be more publicity on sites like the manifest main page, anime news network, supanova's website, even armageddons site. On top of that, small magazines like the anime update and animavricks are circulated to huge amounts of cosplayers, if somehow we got in any of them then we would be seen the exact target audience. Of course any of those would require sponsorship from them.

I agree with kittah's point on the weather. In addition to being in winter, its a bit too close to Avcon. Might not be worth noting though.

well i think one of the reasons people didnt come was because it was raining.
people dont want to go out in the rain especially if it means getting their costumes wet and destroyed.
during the summer however, there is less chance of rain and people would come along.

its a good point part of the reason it was held when it was cos it was inbetween supanova and manifest and gave people a reason to get there costumes ready one of the problems with summer is that it's normaly druing the school holidaysat the end of the year which means that most people eg students go home....where ever it may be then again it could also make it easer for others to come up............ thanks for the suggestions i'll take them on board for next years comp, cos it seems like people are up for it

I'm really annoyed with myself that I forgot to go. Homework clouds the mind sometimes. Sound like it was a blast, I hope to see tons of pictures at the meeting tomorrow. Next year should be bigger and better hopefully.

Ok guys and girls...I don't want to sound like a killjoy again, but I've been quietly bumping the event thread in the Manifest forum hoping that the photographers would soon post their pictures, but this hasn't happened yet. So far the only pics up are the ones I took, and I'm hardly skillful, professional, or am an official photographer. Has someone tried to contact nakey?
Also I haven't received any communication yet regarding the tickets that were won.
