Darker then black is a great series that originally aired in 2007. The second season came out in 2009.
Despite mixed reviews I really enjoyed this series. The first season develops the characters really well. Introducing the super powered beings known as contractors and the stars in the sky changing to represent the lives of these contractors. A falling star representing the death of a contractor.
All contractors are famed for being rational beings that don't do things out of character. Contractors are supposedly unable to dream as well. The price for using their power varies but has included smoking, drinking, setting stones into a pattern and singing.
Enter Hai. A contractor of tremendous skill that seemingly has no price for his powers. Referred to as the black reaper in the series He is known and feared by many... Though few actually see his face!
25 episodes of action, laughs, excitement... This is a series i highly recommend and the second season only gets better! I do advise watching the OVA'S before season 2 as it will be a lot less confusing.
P.S We have this series available at Guf! Both seasons! Only two copies of both seasons left though
$59.95 before discount for both seasons

My friend keeps telling me to read the manga! I actually almost bought the anime on a whim a while back, but decided on going with Black Butler instead. It sounds really awesome, and the fan-art I've seen confirms this~!

Anime stands out among the animation of other countries for its relevance in Japanese society. This also determines the general orientation of a certain share of works to a more adult audience, which is expressed in greater attention to philosophical and ideological components, the predominance of “adult” motives in the subject, and, in particular, less taboo themes of sex and violence in culture as a whole.
