I used to watch this in the 3rd grade when I had what was called Optus Vision back then. Right now it looks like a piece of crap. *facepalm*
Maybe others would use this thread to post REALLY OLD anime that probably nobody has ever heard of.

Um Classic does not equal good my friend, I know, a fair number of "classics" are worthless rubish these days, and anyone who is a Dragon Ball Z fan thinking collecting the serries is a good idea is not all to bright because thats one Serries that the next generation will look at and say... OH God some people actually watched that... no offence to any fans of the series... it's just the blunt truth

what u need to remember is dbz for alot of anime fans was the first one they saw!!!!!! and its just not cool nto bag out the first anime people ever watched...... would u bag out Astro boy?

Yeah - you tell him! Thinking back on it now, the very first anime series I ever watched (in english) was a Robotech series (unsure which one)... Regardless of whether you don't like a particular anime that is of classic status - you shouldn't offend what people like!

If anyone here bags out Astro Boy I will be ripping their skin off. That is like the first cartoon I ever watched, gotta thank my dad for buying it when I was born. XD He also tried to get me into Kimba the White Lion but eh... not a furry.  Can we make this thread about nostalgia? Because yesterday I spent all day watching old cartoons and episodes of Sentai. Honestly, this makes me want to tear up a little just because Astro boy is so amazingly awesome. And of course, there's the really old opening (this is what my Dad grew up on.) Oh! And there's an Astro Boy movie coming out soon! Not sure how I feel about it but hopefully it'll be decent. (I expect you all to come see it with me.) Also, it has Kirsten Bell in it who's been rumoured to play Harley Quinn in an upcoming Batman movie. I like her. She's like a friendlier version of Hayden Panniwhatsherface. (Skip to about 0:40 to avoid the stupid woman.) Of course, before there was Initial D, there was... Bonus video, not actually an anime but it's so awesome that I want to share it with you because it's face melting. It's one of those videos that makes you say "I have no idea what's going on here but it's AWESOME!" |

To be polite, I'm not an "Anime Fan" I'm an Otaku, with a taste for anime that is not entirely that popular due to it only being released in Japan mostly. DBZ is not something I can watch, it's nature is simply not to my liking, it's all the same over and over, same with pokémon but I did enjoy the first season and the Movies. And yes I might be a Jerk my girlfriend tells me that all the time but I would rather be honest about what I like than lie to you. |

I would never bad Astro Boy, that show is a true classic, besides thats one of the few shows that made me enjoy robots in anime. Very few get it right, Ghost in the Shell is another good classic, I have to admit however that the recent episodes are quite different from what I grew up with but still decent. I should mention that I did actually like Dragon Ball's first two seasons, it was more intresting when Goku was still a kid, now the powerlevel is just over the top. |

I still have that and well first time I watched it, it was much better for some reason now I can't seem to watch it all anymore. And I said I intended no offence that is simply my opinion. Not everyone likes the same Anime, thats just how it is. |

I'm just really excited that it might get a new generation interested in it. (I hear Cartoon Network will start airing the 80's series again to celebrate the movie.) My dad, me and my little brother were into it. That's close to three generations. It's really stood the test of time.  I got my niece an Astroboy jumpersuit for her second birthday and I hope she'll watch it, too. Even though it was a little rough at times. I remember this episode that like, traumatised me, when Astro met this little robot girl who was a robot princess or something, anyway, she had a bomb in her heart. And Astro wanted to get it out, but in order to get rid of this evil spaceship or something she let herself explode on it. Goddamn that was a sad episode.  |
