Hi guys! Another newbie it seems! I only just found out about this place while googling; I moved to Ballarat about twelve months ago and had no idea there was an anime group around! I'm stoked to find you guys. So, I'm female, 24 and working in town as a medical professional. My current obsession is with Avatar the Last Airbender (if that is considered anime.) I'm also pretty mad about cosplay i8.photobucket.com/albums/a14/Chrysocome/art/2010/bernadelli.jpg - that's me on the right. This is my budding cosplay group - os-cordis.deviantart.com/Nice to meet you all and I hope to meet up with you some time

This is my budding cosplay group - os-cordis.deviantart.com/Nice to meet you all and I hope to meet up with you some time Nice to meet you. I just become new here this week. With Avatar the Last Airbender, that is similar in style to anime. Over the last 10 or so years there have been some american animation trying their best to appeal to those in the anime style. Avatar is perhaps the closest I have seen, another was the Winks Club but there are certain artistic looks that give it away that it is not really anime. Super Monkey Robot Team Hyper Force Go is one that tries a little too hard and easily comes out as american animation that was rushed. Deltora Quest is another that was animated in Japan but was based on a western novel. Out of all the attempts I have seen, Avatar does really well to make it look like anime and for that I commend them. Most american animation that tries to appeal to anime fans often do cater to the younger crowd, until I see one that has got some really mature stuff I would really love to see. As long as they remember that Anime IS MORE than just characters with big eyes, guys with spiky hair and girls with big s What is important is to capture the culture of Japanese art and society at the time that the series takes place. As in if I were to make an anime series, I would want to have all schools to have Japanese style school uniforms. Until something like that comes around from a western animation team, then I would take real notice of their work.
