as i started reading the latest chapter of Black lagoon a small note popped up on the first page.
as we already know there was gonna be a third season this year this tells us a couple of things. production has already started. and well if thats the case i would not be surprised to see the new anime start up in april.
And another thing that i was not aware of but some of you i think was. is that it is gonna be an ova season. what this means is that we cant say if it will have the standard 12 episodes the other series had. i hope that is the case but it may not be (i will state reason in the spoilers if you wish to read)
these are just some minor spoilers. i wouldnt really consider them spoilers but i just thought better safe then sorry
The ark after the second season finished is different then all the others. the major difference is the length. its huge compared to the others. so my estimation is that the ova will only cover that that ark and no others. reasons for this is because well that ark just finished. it has 33 chapters in it compared to the 16 of the Japanese ark and the rest only have a max of 6 chapters, so you can understand why i say its huge.
as it being big and only that ark has been finished its safe to say that it is only gonna be that one ark made into the third season. as it is double the size of the Japanese ark it can easily be double the size in the anime. and as that ark had 6 episodes we can easily get the 12 out of this. because that is a bigish ova season to make and the only other anime to have an ova series that big is HunterXHunter. and although i like black lagoon, it is no hunterXhunter. other ova series usually go for 6 episodes. i dont remember how many the kenshin ones went for but im sure zac can fill me in.
so yea they can do 12 and i hope they do, but i can understand if they dont
