Allow me to analyze last article from Jez.
"AUSTRALIA should keep its ban on R18+ games because children could be damaged by the act of participating in simulated violence and sex, says Guardian for Children Pam Simmons."
Define children, Pam. Just how would they be able to procure R18 games anyway?
"AdelaideNow reports the Federal Government is investigating whether the ban should be dropped, which Ms Simmons said would open the country to a range of games depicting domestic violence, rape, murder and torture."
But games available now don't portray some of the above themes? You played Saints Row 2? Domestic violence does go around in that game. I can't remember ANY game that featured rape, which is legal and available to buy mainstream. I don't think murder needs to be explain, it's featured in even some of the M15 games you play. As long as you accomplish something to kill a man, that's considered murder. As for torture, do you know a child which has access to a machine that electrocutes people like in Metal Gear Solid one? You madam, are ignorant.
"Ms Simmons, who is the woman in charge of protecting the rights of children in South Australia, said people should understand that watching simulated domestic violence, for example, on a DVD was totally different from getting involved or children watching parents or older siblings getting involved."
This woman obviously thinks little of us, if we show children inappropriate material for them. While your at it, why not try to crusade against TV networks, tell them to stop showing content, they might be watching
.
""People will say, 'What is the difference between the games and violent movies?', and it is the interaction, the getting involved, rather than just watching."
Because nobody was so heavily influenced by TV/Film in the past and went on a killing spree. I supposed nobody read an article recently (I believe I read this in Herald Sun a month ago) that a man imitated Rambo and shot Kangaroos with a bow. I heard no problems with this from other activists, I suppose movies are innocent of anything nowadays. So people, let's all watch 300 and kill Persians, movies clearly let anyone get away with murder.
""I am not advocating children watching it either, but they are not just seeing violence in these games, they are participating in it or watching an adult participating it, they are in there playing the game."
So kids having nothing better to do than to watch me. Geez, kids must be real bored nowadays. Last I checked my sister was glued on the Disney Channel and had no intention of no longer watching it. Geez, kids are that bored.
"There was new evidence as recently as two weeks ago showing the link between the actual participation of violence in games and violent behaviour."
WHAT WAS THE EVIDENCE? WHERE WAS THE EVIDENCE? WHO SAID IT? But seriously, if your going to bring 'evidence' up. You need facts to back it up. Otherwise they would fall flat on their ass.
"Ms Simmons said it would be impossible to make sure only those aged 18 years and over played the games."
Impossible yes, but it can be prevented with full cooperation of everyone. The person selling the game, the parent, the siblings anyone can influence kids to make a right choice with what it is they want to play.
""No matter how well we think it will be controlled, we cannot control everything, and there will be situations where children are using the games, watching older siblings or adults playing them," she said."
That is why consoles/PCs these days have Parental Control. How many times must we lecture this to you ignorant pricks about it?
You know what forget it, move to Greece. Total game ban there. Enjoy your fetta cheese.
