Hey guys, I thought I should start a thread where we bounce ideas around of what we can do for a big cosplay group. There's been a few discussions already and its concluded that:
There will be no cosplay groups of the following:
- Naruto
- Bleach
purely because they are over done.
Possible groups:
- Final Fantasy
- Soul Calibur
So lets bounce some ideas around! We need to find something suitable for both male and female, and it doesn't necessarily have to be from an anime or manga.

Didn't someone here want to do a Rurouni Kenshin group?
If there need for a group-play I would humbly suggest Street Fighter, FMA, Katamari Damacy (it may be hard, BUT IT WOULD BE FREAKIN HILARIOUS)

I don't think we should do FMA, I know people love it, I do too, but its done too often and we already have 3 people who already have costumes to go with it, it would ruin the fun of it if we can't all start from scratch together.

Didn't someone here want to do a Rurouni Kenshin group? I'd love to do it but I know know if that many people here like it as much as I do....yet!  P0rtalman, Afterlight and I are doing a little group of it for Manifest this year but more people would be great cos it has SO many characters to choose from. I thought a group of Sekihotai would be cool to do If we all wanted to do the same sort of uniform. These guys here:  I also think Final Fantasy could be a good one too, though which one to do? VII, VIII and X are done heaps but if we did a less common one that could be awesome like IX or XII. There's always the Ghost in the Shell crew which would be super fantastic and even a Neon Genesis group if done well. Yu Yu Hakusho which I've recently started watching has TONS of potential cosplays and I'm even considering doing a Hiei somewhere along the line. Possibly doing Vash next year anyway so I'd be happy to go along with a Trigun group too. Continuing my never ending list I'd love to do a Tekken group too and let's not rule out Dragon Ball/Dragonball Z. They can turn out awesome if done well. ...well RAVE420 said it doesn't necessarily have to be from and anime or manga so all I have to say to that is... STARGATE, STARGATE, STARGATE!! ...no I'm not obsessed....it's more than that! ;D Anyway I'd love to go on for hours more but people have probably stopped reading and gone on to the next post so I'm probably just talking to myself but oh well you wanted ideas so I gave you some!  |

Holy crap! I LOVE the look of those guys you posted battosai! Epic jacket is epic.
I'm always up for a stargate group ;D But that involves a fair bit of investment, JUST the G8-WEP flight jacket will set you back $200-$350 depending on the exchange rate... as me and you both know zac (or in your evil sneaky case 2 for the price of one...)
Plus BDU's ($50-100 once posted)
Blackhawk tac vest over $100
Magnum 2 response boots $60-100
holster for Beretta - $50ish
Patches -$20
you get the idea...
Although you could do a basic Atlantis costume for a decent amount less...

There's always the cheaper alternative like the SGC garrison BDUs I'm crazy I've got gear from both shows. Atlantis just needs the vest, headset and p90 with harness which I will get when I can afford it. There's always the option of making some Goa'uld attire or other various costumes from both shows like Genii, Athosian or Satedan. Then there's Jaffa robes and not armoured outfits. Any thing medievil or Egyptian looking with a symbol on your forhead and you'll be recognized as a Jaffa or Goa'uld. Top it off with a hand device or Zat/Staff and your all good I'd love to see some of those done |

A hand device is something i would love to do. Might get around to it if i kit myself out with some metalworking tools next year...
hmmm, that reminds me, there was a link i got to the prop studio that did stargate who were selling screen used costumes, from extras in the show, $70 for 3 costumes, i wonder if they are still doing it. Ill have to find the link.

Stargate would only work for supanova or amagedon... so its kinda out of the picture... sorry guys... I do love Stargate too, but you have to think of how it would work, plus its too expensive.
We also need to think of japanese games, if we want to go games... But no offense.. Street fighter characters are ugly... Don't we want to look good...?

How about King of Fighters? There are so many of them, male, female and hard-to-tell, and the costumes come in many different levels of complexity....
Or the Fatal Frame series? Some people might not count it as cosplay though as a lot of the characters wear normal clothes. But in a team of people where some cosplay as ghosts, it becomes more fun. Another cheap option with the possibility of going over-the-top with more expensive prosthetics if so wanted.
Crazy as it sounds...we had a Patapon team in Singapore. Go figure. I was also in a Warriors Orochi group.
For non-Japanese games with both sexes of characters...you could do a lot from the Metal Gear series
In anime/manga I know Hitman Reborn and Ouran High School are quite popular overseas, though they tend to be preferred by females.
Others could be any Gundam series, Kingdom Hearts, Vampire Knight, Code Geass, D Gray Man...?

I did see a Kyo (99-02 outfit, there might be an original and 03-XI as well...) and a K' on eBay that I wouldn't mind getting if I was going be in a KOF group. Which by the way, MY SCHOLARSHIP CHEQUE JUST CAME IN SO HURRAH! I might buy some good cosplay from eBay.
I actually was hoping to be in a Metal Gear group as Psycho Mantis, as he is one of my favourite villians. But somehow I don't think others will agree with the outfit.
Isn't KH and Ouran one of those overused cosplays?
EDIT: New Idea for group, DAI GURREN BRIGADE from TTGL.
