I live in Creswick, and though it has a small population, it has a MASSIVE salvation army store which has very cheap prices compared to the same in nearby Ballarat...also because of its country location, there is an unusual variety of items and very few are over $5. There is the potential for this place to be mined for cosplay goodness!
I'd like to extend an invitation to anyone looking for any odd bit of costume to just post here or PM me what you'd like and I will go down and have a look to see if its there each week...I go there very regularly anyway. Otherwise if anyone is interested in going there themselves, its on the main street and open only on thursdays and fridays, 9am to 3pm.
Some potentially useful items I saw there two days ago:
Black leather trenchcoat Black leather trenchcoat with fur edging on sleeves leather jackets very large faux leather suit-carrier...can be cut up for craft material Metre-long plushie tiger numerous construction helmets and bicycle helmets Huge quantities of wool for knitting and cloth for sewing Cylindrical black aluminium trashcan

I could use the black leather jacket for my BR Cosplay. If they have matching pants I would be in business.

I mentioned leather jackets...not their colour! I'd have to check that I'm afraid. I remember at least one brown one....and a neon pink one...good luck with cosplaying Battle Royale with that!XD
That said though, there are the black TRENCHCOATS, and there are probably other leather jackets that I simply do not remember at this point in time. I will check on Thursday what colour they are, when the store opens, also things like quantity and whether they are faux/real, suede/scaly/glossy/raw etc

Guys/girls..., don't you think it might be a bit more practical for me to have a look at what's there on Thursday, and then you can come down on Friday before the meeting. Remember, its only open for a limited time on thursdays and fridays. In addition, it may be possible to get certain items from Ballarat, no? If I go down first thing on Thursday morning and find that every single jacket has disappeared, then report it here, at least I won't get lynched when you end up empty-handed Also, please, please, PLEASE feel free to suggest ANYTHING you are looking for, and I will have a look. In addition, there is a crate-full of metal junk, including sheets that could be cut up and wire etc, near a repair garage further down the road. There is also a sign there saying its all free for the taking. If anyone is into really hardcore prop-making, bring a trailer. Speaking of which, if anyone's driving, I could then grab a lift into Ballarat for the meeting. Aside from that, has anyone ever considered doing a group outing to scour all the op-shops in Ballarat? Its possible to trace a route from one to the next and pick up randomness along the way.

I need a trailer... (hi, I'm the hardcore prop guy ;D) As to a proper response, that will have to wait till the morning... my internet gets cut off at 11...

So what days and times are they open then? since you mentioned that its only a limited time on thursday and fridays...
The op-shops in ballarat haven't got much stuff, Karasu and I go around to check them out fairly often, and its pretty hard to find anything worth all the effort...

I just thought of a really good simple cosplay!!! I might do it just because i can this weekend, all i need is jeans, a yellow hoddy (which will be modified), a few strips of black fabric, and a black belt. I spotted most of that in the salvo's near me yesterday ;D Although if anyone sees a large or XL yellow hoddy with nothing on it and no zip at the front, let me know! The last piece i have at home. There's also another easy one from the same show, but its pretty much normal cloths and unrecognizable...
