Identification of the exact location is complicated by the fact that Megiddo did not stand on any significant hill, and although the city and the valley of the same name are mentioned more than once in the Hebrew Bible, there are no references to “Megiddo Mountains”. Perhaps Armageddon should be seen as an indication of Mount Carmel.

“Armageddon” is considered to be a Greek derivative of the Hebrew name al-Heb. הַר מְגִדּוֹ Har Megiddo "Mount Megiddo", named after the ancient city of Megiddo (Megiddon) at the foot of the Carmel Range in northern Israel.
