I would rather people point out flaws, it encourages me to do better. Also, my Mjolnir is currently at the Ballarat fine art gallery, so if you don't have anything better to do, go check it out, I'm pretty sure its free entry. The only problem is that the shins didn't fit onto the mannequin, but it still looks pretty nice. My progress this weekend: NOTHING! aside from prepping the lower shoulder piece for molding, and ordering some more silicon rubber and polyurethane resin. Next weekend I'm planning a cosplay crunch, i want to get the lower shoulder mold under some silicon, and finish one or two more pieces over the week, plus do a heap of sowing for my state alchemist.

You sound busy to me... Can I say that those photos would have been better without the threads hanging off everywhere... It was so distracting... My last week of cosplay work consisted of: Shopping with the boofhead friend of mine :-P (It was still relevant... all to do with costumes...) Talking about costumes... (That we hated...) Getting really frustrated with removing some weird fuzzy iron on words from a pair of pants for my medusa cosplay... Then finding out that removing it made white marks wherever I tried to spray green spraypaint over.... Very unproductive and frustrating I tell you...

Yeah i need to do a trim, but trust me when i say it should look pretty good when its done.

damn you p0rtalman, when i first saw ur master chief cosplay i was amazed and secretly hoped that you couldnt sew but from those photos im proven wrong! i actually plan on starting a Yoshimitsu cosplay (Soul Calibur 3 version) and i would LOVE any pointers you have on making armour, im thinking craft foam and a heat gun for the basic shape but what do you use for a coating? thanks!

wow, i just googled that character... could you have picked something harder? Most if it wouldn't be terribly difficult, but the chest and head.... damn... I haven't tried this method myself, but using polyurethane foam (a type of insulation foam) could work.... Have a look at this: www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.php?showtopic=113136Its a guide to make space marine Armour with insulation foam, you could apply similar principles to make this. The only downside is the cost, it wouldn't be cheep.... You could commission a pep file, but that would be even more expensive...

To strengthen it, I would suggest polyester resin (fibreglass). It isn’t terribly expensive, I get 1 litre plus the catalyst for $20 and that lasts for a while, and sheets of fibreglass cloth are about $5-$10 depending on the size sheet you get. But if you use fibreglass on foam it would need to be sealed. I would suggest using Wood glue (PVA) for that.

Super special awesome update!!! I found the screws used by WETA on their suits, so they will be used on the pieces that need it, and ill replace the rivits on the shoulder mold on the pieces ill be making for myself (yes I'm one of those screen accurate at all costs type of person) I'm hoping to have the throwing knife done in a day or two. P.s: Wednesdays ballarat courier had a pic of my armour in it, with someone else in the pic, and it said he made it!!! i already rang up and shouted at the editor, there will be an amendment in tomorrows paper... but its already damaged my rep, I've had people tell me about this guy from St pats who made a suit of mjolnir armour.... lets just say im extremely angry atm On a lighter note, are there any props or costume WIP's people want me to bring to next week meetings? (i cant bring my Mjolnir armour sorry, its still on display)
