hehehe damn u rowan, ok in my argument, imagine my cosplay skills put into an L cosplay, so clearly it was much better than any you've seen at any con, secondly it was a drunken night and even tho alcohol was involved i even stayed true to character all night and even friends from high school didnt recognise me for like 20-25mins  |

its clear that it is a sin to L cosplay.
Hmmm...... its difficult to make a costume seeing as i dont have a sewing machine.
Any ideas for characters i can cosplay as that dont require sewing anything??

well sounds like I cross dress then, I have a male cosplay to do... you could always find an anime that just has normal clothing and maybe one or two accessories that make the character who they are... if you've seen fruits basket thats a good example.

Well my first few costumes didn't require a sewing machine but they weren't anime related (A Stargate SG-1 uniform and a vampire (Spike from Buffy to be specific)). The only sewing i did was for my SG-1 on my tactical vest and backback to modify it for accuracy but that was all tedious hand sewing. So if there's a cool character in mabye military clothing or something you can hit up aussie disposals or ebay haha like what I did. There's always premade costumes that you can buy too though they are usually pretty crappy and innacurate. Helps always here though when you need it so just tell us what costume you would like and we can help you the best way we can  |

you do just realise that you told a girl where she can get military style clothing right? she probly isn't into that stuff... I don't think I'd ever do a military style... sure a warrior or something... but I do love stargate...

There's always heaps of characters that wear pretty much normal clothing, but the down side of a more simple costume is that you want have nearly as many people recognize the character your trying to cosplay.
Some suggestions of animes with "normally" dressed characters:
Noir
Elfen lied
black lagoon (probably would require some modifications, or looking very hard for the right stuff)
