As much as i love anime, i still think my sci-fi side is just a little stronger... but i have been neglecting it lately, by watching more anime.... ;D Its just that Stargate is in limbo know, waiting for the new series and all... ill be right back into sci-fi mode when that and Dr who start up again!
Also, this just in:
Lisa Furukawa will be performing at Armageddon! I had never herd of her before now, but i just checked out her site, she does some pretty cool stuff:
"Lisa Furukawa is a Japanese-American pianist, singer, and songwriter. Utilizing her talents in contemporary and classical music, Lisa’s performances and recordings display a fusion of Japanese folk, alternative pop, and electronica. "
Here's her site: www.lisafurukawa.com/
Armageddon keeps getting better and better!
Here are a few bits an pieces from one of the organisers posts on the cultureshock forums:
At this stage event opening times will be changed as we are looking at a 10am start. This is yet to be confirmed. Saturday however will be a little more exciting as we introduce "Armageddon after Dark". This facet of the event will run from 6pm till 9pm for those who wish to explore a slightly more adult level of fun and entertainment with live bands and wrestling as well as stand up comedians, stage shows and performances and more. The retailers section will still be open and we hope to also offer special screenings and other special events as well. So take the kids home and get the babysitter while you enjoy pop culture beyond the "G rating"
The event area is more than 50% larger this year with us taking an extra bay at the MECC. At this stage no upstairs level to navigate to, everything on the same floor with easy access.
Our retailers are sure to please with more than 40% of the space already taken with retailers from previous years keen to get their places. Look out for some new retailers too with new products to offer.
As long as they don't make a supanova 08 mistake and have the stage right next to all the vendors, thus making it impossible to hear anything over the noise of the crowd.
Also:
Finally, our guest lineup is still only the very tip of the iceberg so check regularly for more updates. Our media guests are sure to excite you and already we have some of the world's top comic producers on board. Our animation and anime lineup too is steadily growing and looking great. Notice we are learning, distinguishing between anime and animation. Our aim is to improve our anime knowledge and show inclusions in leaps and bounds, so that we can best serve the legion of anime fans and cosplayers out there as well as sponsors like Madman who have supported us strongly since day 1. And besides that my kids won't let me get through each day without watching Naruto with them.
Learning to distinguish between anime and animation my ass. Their anime guest line up so far is pathetic, although i have been assured there is one more guest they are waiting on conformation from. (I've been harassing them on the forums to get Steve Blum... A guy can dream cant he?)
Edit:
Just got this from one of the other organizers:
